Protect your TV During your Move

couple moving tvA horrible thing that sometimes happens when you move is accidentally breaking your TV. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it really sucks to break your TV during the move. We want to do everything we can to make your move as stress-free as it can be here in Killeen, whether you’re moving locally or long distance. To help you out we get together a few tips and tricks to use when you are packing up your TV.

In order to move your television, you require a box that’s will work for moving your television. A good a good thing to use is the TV’s original packaging – if you have it still. If you got rid of it though, you can get a box specifically made for moving flat-panel TVs from either a hardware store or a moving supply retailer. You should find a box that is just slightly bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to shift around when it’s inside. Transporting fragile and large items requires packing and moving training and knowledge, not simply large trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers will help you with your move in any and every way you need, even if it’s just getting your TV ready to load.

Before anything else, a good idea is to snap a few pictures of the back of your TV with the cords still plugged in. This will make your life much easier when the time comes to reinstall your television. Then, you can start getting your TV ready to go. Unplug it and take out the power cord, then all other connecting cords. Put all of them inside a bag together and tape this to the outside of the box. You may have a base you have to take off of the television so you can get it into the box. If this is the case, get all the parts into a small bag and keep it with the base so it doesn’t get lost.

Once you’re finished, you can get the TV all packed up. It doesn’t matter whether you are going far from Killeen or you are simply moving locally, it’s very important to make sure your television is completely covered. You should use foam pieces to go over the TV screen, these will come in your kit if purchased one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you are using that. The foam not only keeps the screen from being scratched, but it also will keep your television from moving around in the box during your move. Secure the foam pieces by using mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and prevent it from becoming scratched.

When your TV is completely covered up it’s finally time to place it in the box! Keep your TV upright and make sure it’s secure by filling holes with blankets. This keeps the TV from shifting around in its box.

loading boxes into truck Finally, get the television inside of the truck, or let the movers do it for you. Place the box upright and try to put it agaist other smooth, solid items, including your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Don’t forget to keep important cables by the TV, either in a bag taped to the side or in another box.

After that you’re ready! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Killeen to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered! We can move you fast and efficiently, and we’ll make sure your TV is safe and sound so you have it all up and running when the big game comes around.

Best. Move. Ever!
Very pleased with the overall respect and care the men gave to my possessions. Even mailing me very quickly the only thing lost in transit. Would recommend to anyone needing a long distant move.
